ChrisDurnan

All right here is the challenge. Circles. Show a project with circles.. Oranges, ornaments, frames. cd albums, a dalmation with spots ... think outside your box if possible and challenge yourself a little.
Circles for me are ever continuing and never ending. So post any of your projects or layouts that contain circles.
Need to post by Oct 21st to win the "challenge candy" from my personal stash. Picture to come!
Enjoy!
Chris
Using one of my files. Thank you.

Do we need to use one of your files for the challenge? Or any project will do?

This was fun.. it took me ages to go through all Chris's files to find circle ones as I wanted to use as many as possible! and here is the result
Happily Ever After (http://visualdesignsbychris.com/forum/album.php?albumid=26&pictureid=340)
These are some pictures of my eldest daughter on her wedding day! I have used CD00467 - Mats; CD00309 - Foofala; CD00490 - Doily; and CD478 - Happily Ever After!
Thanks for looking!

I decided to make a card for this challenge. I took a cue from caz and used several of Chris's files for this project. The card base is from Circle Pop Up Card (CD00552) and the background is Bracket Jumble with Bubbles (CD00345). The birthday cake is from the June 2009 challenge. The bracket jumble was cut from vinyl and I added Stickles to the cake, plate, and flame. On the inside of the card, I just made a Happy Birthday title and covered it with more Stickles.

Here's my circle challenge layout . It's a pic of the hunters yesterday. I found the pheasant graphic online and cut it out. Used some old Karen Foster paper and metal embellishment that says "Hunting Buddies". The flourish is from Chris's Frilly collar. The Rooster Rush title came from this year's hunting promo in the area, I see that title everywhere, and seemed perfect for a layout! I like it! DS is the tall one in the middle, he liked it too.

I love everyone's projects. I decided to do a card, for a fellow choir member who has been absent---I used Chris' musical jumble and made up the circle title. The base of the card is dk green, the jumble brown and the circles are orange leaf PP. I used a glaze pen in the pen tool for the words. Hope you like! It's weird how the colors turned out so strange, I tried to adjust them but no such luck. It's much brighter in person, the ribbon is orange and brown and looks more "autumnish" in person.

Okay, here’s my attempt to ‘think out of the box’. LOL
I used Chris’ Crabby Fish Jumbles file (CD00240); overlaid it with a piece of vellum on which I embossed little CIRCLES by hand to simulate bubbles. I cut a few individual fish, embossed them with a Cuttlebug, added Stickles, and pop-dotted them on top of the vellum. I also used CIRCLES for the greeting.

This was a lot more fun than I expected, once I got going. I even did 2 pages!
I used Chris' quarterly files- 2nd Qtr., Ribbons 2, (scut #2) super-enlarged for the circle chains, and 3rd Qtr., "4th" and "birthday" from the 4th 5th 6th birthday and grade file.
My submission for the October monthly sketch challenge also was built on a circle and used a small circle, but this pair of lay out's has more circles. It's still in my album:

My family has also been more interested in what I'm working on, once they understood I might win a prize. Thanks for another great challenge- and making it less stressful by drawing a winner. Lori's next one has me nervous, since it's actually being judged, but I figure I need to try anyway.
ChrisDurnan
10-23-2009, 11:08 AM
Yep Should jump on in!
Many times judging isn't about your style it is about the person casting their votes style. most will cast their vote on what they would put in their own album. If your style speaks to you and those you will be sharing it with then all the better!!
Now dang I wish I could enter Lori's cause I love love love my glue glider. I have purchase a few refills from the grocery store ho hum cause my hubby never glances twice at the food receipts. haha.
enjoy!

My hubby does at least half of the grocery shopping, so that won't help.
However, I really liked what you said to our Cricut SCAL group about purchasing things because you need them for gift making. I have been doing that for years. As long as the total outlay is appropriate, no one in my family has complained - or is that caught on?!- yet. I have sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting, and now papercrafting supplies that were initially bought for gift making. :D
