Here is my hubbies Vday card. It is not how it started out, but definitely I am happy with the end results. I always get stumped when trying to make a card for my hubby that is not so over the top and girly. I found this piece of paper. you can't tell in the picture but the burnt red images are shiny and have a slight glitter touch to them. And there is more of a closeup of the paper further down. I had a stamp I bought on clearance that said yes no maybe so. And the blue staples my friend Lori sent me and at the time I was wondering what I would do with a 5000 box of blue staples, but I really like them and may need to do some searching for more when I make it through my reserves. This ribbon I ran across when organizing my ribbons into these nice oversized Ball Canning jars. More pictures on that later in the week. But when I saw the paper I knew the ribbon would match perfectly.

Here is a closeup of the ribbon. the angle of the word isn't great to see but it says cherish. And you can see the little gold glitter hearts I drew in order to make it more Vday-ish. I love my sakura glitter pens.

Here is the inside. Which I used another corner of the paper and ripped it and attached to the maroon cardstock base I used. This card is square 6x6 and folds up.

Here is a closeup of the gold leaf. I have a few of these and think they are so classy and popped a little on the paper. I glued it right along the spine so it wouldn't stay flat.

And here are my words as I tried to write similar to the stamp I used. To make my own "absolutely" check box.

Well he tells me he doesn't read my blog often. So I hope that still holds true. Or he better act totally impressed and in love with it when he opens it. hahaa.

All from my stash. Yeah!

And this year I am double happy because he got a homemade valentine again. Maybe I am learning how to manage my time a little bit better or have just wiped those things that don't matter as much off my list of to-do's and focused on the most important ones.

And don't forget I am hosting this week's weekly challenge... (http://www.visualdesignsbychris.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=100)

Now that's a handsome card. I think your hubby will love it. Not girly at all.

I have to come up with a different plan for my Hubby card, I desided a file yesterday, but im having blade issues, Just ordered new ones so I might just have to stamp him a card.

Sharon, the cricut blades fit the groove so you can run down to wal-mart or even joanns/michaels and get a new blade

Check dollar tree, and Walmart, I have seen the colored staples there.

I have bought several packs at a place here called Old time Pottery. Love that place. They used to have a scrapbook section with really cheap stuff. and got some stamples there. It had a row of blue, pink, green, Yellow and purple for 1.19. I have used them a few times. But really im a brad person, LOL!

The ones I've seen are big (wide) not regular staples. I'm thinking about coloring some with my copics.

Look in the stationary section at walmart, where the paper clips and stuff is. I just seen them there yesterday. Only a couple dollars for a big pack of several colors.

I will have to look at the other store we go to, my hubby hates our local Walmart. If I don't see them I'll have to ask him for valentines staples, LOL. :D

I did a search and Office max sells colored staples made by swingline (must be my print shop days when I used to jam the book binder with the cheap staples the boss bought.. so I am partial to swingline or bosch. )

Target has some for 1.24 for 2000

This is making me want to get some more. Why go plain... :-)

Amazon had some colored ones also by making memories.

I definitely know what I will be using to fill my amazon order to get to the free shipping magic number :-)

So then i stared looking and I have one of these.
http://www.amazon.com/Stanley-Bostitch-Standard-Capacity-B440LR/dp/B00006IFLE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=office-products&qid=1266011290&sr=1-2

but would like one of these.

http://www.amazon.com/Stanley-Bostitch-Standard-Capacity-B440SB/dp/B0006HVU8S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=office-products&qid=1266011290&sr=1-1

these always jammed on me at the printshop if there was any humidity in the air.
http://www.amazon.com/HP-Booklet-Maker-Finisher-stacker/dp/B0017T9YAA/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&s=office-products&qid=1266011290&sr=1-8

And i could staple a ton of books per hour using one of these.

http://www.amazon.com/Rapid-106-Electric-Saddle-Stapler/dp/B001RJNTF6/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&s=office-products&qid=1266011290&sr=1-11

And that is my staple memory lane. hahaha.
Bindery at printshop is always interesting.

Ha, Thats funny,

I have also worked at many of print shops in my younger years. Every thing from Check printers for banks, to advertisements for magazines, and news papers, to flyers.

I used to run the screen printers and the Omni binders that bind 35 pages at a time. Loved it.

I have worked so many different kinds of bindery equipment I couldn't list them. I managed two print shops for the same owner in two different cities for a while. It was always interesting.

I loved it because no day was ever the same. We were always working on something different. the only thing I couldn't do was run the 4-color presses. but the smaller ones. no problem. So I worked the front, the design area, the presses, the bindery and on... It was a great job til the owner decided to mess with it to much.

But I love where I am at now in life. It was definitely a spring board for this.

but I am a junkie for those machines. :-)
Enjoy!

Ok Chris you have went staple crazy this afternoon. At least I don't have to search now. lol, Thanks! ;)

And my mom worked most of my younger life at a print shop too. So, I got to run and do many things I'm sure a young girl should not do. :D But is sure was fun for me. All but the hand press they used to number on...hurt my back after a while.

I used to run a hand fed press. I can remember thinking. this machine cannot be up to osha standards. hahah. all the other guys were missing ends of their fingers. If you got into a rhythm you were okay. otherwise yikes.
