January Birthday Bingo [Archive]

For the month of January we thought we'd devote some time to Birthdays here at Visual Designs by Chris. What a better time is there to start working on birthday cards or projects for the upcoming year? I'll bet you have some awesome cards already finished and we're just dying to see them!

Here's how the game will go:

1. You will pick 15 words from this list of 31 words (see below).

2. You will send an email at VDBCBingo@gmail.com with your 15 words. Also, please include your Forum name in the subject line. Deadline will be January 4th, with the first word called on January 5th. So don't wait, get your list in today!

3. Everyday you will need to check back to this original post in this thread, and see if one of your words are called! All words called will be updated in this original post, So, it will be up to you to come back here and check! I will usually call a word a day, but you never know when I might call it. So you will need to be on your toes and check in frequently! Who knows, there might be more than one word on some days!

4. Once all 15 of your words are called, post on this thread. The first to post, calling BINGO, will win! (We will verify the winner with your selected words that you emailed! There can be no tie, because the winner will be determined by the FIRST PERSON to post on this thread calling BINGO!)
That's it! This is one of those "must be present to win" games... you have to call Bingo yourself in order to win, so it's up to you to keep checking!

02. Cake : Boy, I have made a few of these.
12. Cupcakes: Seemed the only time I made these it was always in a rush. "Hey Mom! I have to have 36 cupcakes for school in the morning!'' And it was always LATE when they told me!
06. Napkins: How many of you have ever scrapped a napkin from some type of event?
14. Pinata:a brightly-colored paper container filled with candy and/or toys. It is generally suspended on a rope from a tree branch or ceiling and is used during celebrations. A succession of blindfolded, stick-wielding children try to break the piñata in order to collect the sweets (traditionally sugarcane) and/or toys inside of it. It has been used for hundreds of years to celebrate special occasions such as birthdays, Christmas and Easter.
09. Pin the Tail on the Donkey: Here's one that all the kids seem to enjoy
10. Birthday Card: Have any cards you want to share with us?
08. Party favors: a small gift given to a guest at a party

It is interesting you say that Sarah because you were tops on my list if no one else wanted to host on the Creative Team. :-) If we don't get any takers next time around, although I know Karen Loves it!! And I think Melody had fun to! I will definitely keep you in mind. I am leaving the forum open to anyone who would to host sketch challenges, games, recipe swaps. Anything. All you have to do is PM me. The hostesses get all the files offered during Bingo. I usually create new ones for the Bingo games unless it is the biggest loser prize :-) That is usually an older file.

Oh yea...I got the Bamboo Fun Tablet for Christmas! I've played with it some, but just on my laptop. My son has to "clean" my desktop computer and add more memory before I add anything else to it! (My DH said my desktop actually GROANED when I opened the Bamboo Fun....he heard it all the way in the living room!) :rolleyes: Just because I currently have my Pazzle, two printers, a third portable printer (sometimes), scanner, two portable hard drives (hey! I gotta save my files and pics to SOMETHING!), my phone, my USB portable drive, my PDA (just used for games now), cordless mouse and keyboard, (I'm sure I'm forgetting something!) already hooked up to this computer...that's not too much, right? :eek: They wouldn't make those USB octopus pods if you weren't supposed to use them, right?

Thanks, Karen, for hosting. We all love these bingo games and for me it keeps me in the loop of what is going on on Chris's Blog/Forum.
Thanks, Chris and the design team, for creating files to give us. That is great too.
I saw clown was one of the words and would REALLY like to see a clown file this quarter, Chris. I'm sure you have tons and tons of requests but just thought I'd throw mine in too.
Little kids love getting clowns on their birthday cards.

Chris has a clown file that I don't think she has posted yet in the store. I used it on my Nieces Birthday page last year. Anyway here's a picture of the file. It's adorable! Maybe we can get her to post it in the store soon. :)

I actually was messing with that last night when I couldn't sleep. Saving it for scut use as well. Have to look at it some more. :-)

After I finish the new files for the qmc I have sitting in limbo.

I always appreciate the ideas. You never know for sure what people are looking for.

We need to keep the Bingo active so if anyone has a group they can post to for BINGO. please feel free to! I appreciate the help in getting people signed up.

Hailey-- no, hun, you don't have to design anything, just go to the first page, check out the list of words, pick 15 of them, submit your list to the gmail addy given, and check back in daily to see if your word has been posted! Kick back, play bingo, join in on the chat and sharing of new ideas with all of us, maybe a challenge will pop in and you can post something in order to win, but you don't have to. It's lots of fun to see what others are doing. Chris has it to where everyone feels like a winner! Have Fun!! :)

Finally got my words picked and sent in - I feel like I'm beginning to be able to get back to normal living (whatever that is!) since Christmas is done & packed away. 24. 21st Birthday: How many of you couldn't wait for this one?

It was so long ago...who can remember??? Seriously, it was legal to drink (at least beer) when I turned 18, so 21 wasn't that big of a deal! Plus, by the time I was 21, I had gotten married, had had a baby, and had gotten divorced!

Nowadays, since you can't drink anything before you turn 21, nor go into bars, it's a BIG DEAL!!!

Oh yea, but you fight for our country at 18....don't get me started! :eek:

I never strived for 21 because I didn't drink. I drove. I seemed to always drive all the guys on the football team home when I was in high school. My Boyrfriend at the time was on the team. I would drive myself home in his car. Leave my purse on the floor by the door. so my mom would see it if she came out. Take my wallet with me. go into my room and climb out the window and drive back to the party and drive everyone home. Then My BFs MOther would drive me home when we got to their house. she never knew that my curfew was earlier. I would have had my hide tanned if my Mom ever found out. But she never did. and it wasn't every weekend but many. I was very worried about all of them and just couldn't take it so risked the tanned hide. :-) Ahhhh to be young and think you could take on the world...

I met my hubby when I was 28. Thank goodness I didn't have to worry about any of that with him. I still drive home if he even has one glass of wine. He could drive, but why risk it. He gets sleepy when he drives. I have an on off switch and am wide awake behind the wheel.

wow I am reminsicing. Well I better get the kiddo from school.

I'm now all the time wishing for my 21 yr old legs back! Man, what I could do today with them! :D My grandkids wouldn't be able to keep up with me!! :D
So, young women, take heed and warning....take care of your legs and feet...moisturize them, massage them, wear more expensive work shoes, and less expensive dress shoes, dont go barefoot so much....hmmmmm.. now this is beginning to sound like a lecture, huh? :)

Chris, I too was usually the DD (designated driver)...I didn't mind though. I didn't really like the taste of beer, and I REALLY don't like not being in control of myself! Even now, I rarely drink (well....maybe a shot of tequila on occasion), but not often!

Oh my goodness, at 21 my legs were busy chasing a 2 year old. In general, just keeping up with hubby and son kept my legs in great shape. Now, I'm 50 and ugh, the cellulite and lack of keeping up with anything is taking its toll. So all you young things out there, take heed, KEEP MOVING and don't let anything slow you down.

I'm with you. At 21, I had a 2 year old and a 6 week old baby. No time for partying! Oh my goodness, at 21 my legs were busy chasing a 2 year old. In general, just keeping up with hubby and son kept my legs in great shape. Now, I'm 50 and ugh, the cellulite and lack of keeping up with anything is taking its toll. So all you young things out there, take heed, KEEP MOVING and don't let anything slow you down.

Funny stories ladies. In Ohio we could go into the clubs just not drink until we were 21. I'm the DD but not three times a year (my birthday, day of my car accident and feather party at fire station). I don't drink a lot just a few. Like Chris said we don't want to chance it.

I'm 1/2 :D.

I remember looking forward to 21 just because I'd be considered an adult - lol. and I remember being disappointed because my mom and dad didn't do anything (my mom always did the stuff ;)), because my mom was in Hawaii at the time. I don't even think she called me - lol.

I've never been a drinker. I did some in college but we were always walking. I was the DD in college and still am when I am with any friends that drink. Most of them don't though.

We don't have a gallery here like other forums. Yet. I had to add it to my wishlist as funds permit. So we have a thread that runs as gallery. I have been out riding horse all day. So going to go look at the gallery thread settings and see what is up.

The reason it didn't work. Which I took some pondering over night. AND THANK YOU Sherri for the brain stretcher. I needed it!! And it made me think about a few things actually...

I think Sherri posted a link that was in edit mode..> hope this makes sense. byzptmom uploaded her pictures and then added her comments and copied the link and posted it. . It just needed a save and it would have been closed. I have admin rights so I clicked on it. hit save and then went to the album and got the finished link. It's kinda like taking a link that is in the middle of processing like if you were on the second page of a shopping cart and you took that link as a copy and sent it to someone. Sooo glad I figured it out.

Loving the learning stuff. And I soo appreciate everyone here helping me figure it out.

I have to get those two files loaded to the store! Sherri made them soooo cute. I love it.

Karen is reformatting her computer and has left it to me to post it tomorrow a.m. if she doesn't appear. Although I wouldn't put it past her to get it fixed and formatted and jump on the computer in the middle of the night. ahhhhh.. nah I am biting my fingers. haha. I guess I will see if I am supposed to post in the a.m.

I have been thinking about winnings for this game of Bingo. Still offering up a membership for next quarter in the QMC. and all the files offered in the game for the challenges will also go to the winner.

And going to put together some Biggest Bingo Loser files.

I'm Back!!!!!!!!! We did it! I still can't believe it went so smooth. WOW! Have I mentioned I Love my DH? He's awesome when it comes to all this computer stuff! :) Other than loosing my bookmarks, everything seemed to go perfectly!
