Welcome to summer and the Month of June, this means it time to start a new challenge.
This month, We will be "Stamp it & Color It".
Rules:
In this challenge you will be allowed to use any kind of stamp for your "Image". Rubber stamp or a digital stamp. (Must make sure that these images are not from a site that sells "Cutter Files")
Must be a Image that you can "Color" so this does not include sentiments but you can add those on your project.
Must be submitted on a finished creation. Example. Layout, Card, Tag. Must be new finished item as of June 1.
You can use any color Dye stamping Ink, Embossing Powder, Tombow markers, Bic Markers, Copics, Color pencils, Crayons. To color your image for either a hand stamped image or a white printed Digital image. Can not use your computer to color the image.
Please post what you used so that others can learn some new techniques. And if you have any questions on what kind of paper to use, or Ink to use. Just ask. We can help you out.
This Challenge runs until June 30th.
Winners:
Im working on getting up a prize for the winners. And yes. We will continue with 1 winner per 5 entries. And one for the "Most" entries. You can enter as many times as you like. And make sure you post one project picture per post so that entries stack up.
Since this prize if stamping related. And not cutter related. (again, if you happen to use a cutter file, must be from one of the VDBC designers) Every one is eligible.
Im working on some thing special for the prize for this, and will post updates or sneak peaks when they are available.
Thanks for playing, and have fun.

Caz is quick to see the loopholes! (And I love Caz' digi version. Dustin Pike, who made that stamp, sometimes does the same thing- I've seen on his blog that he digitally colors some of his digi stamps.)

Here is an Anniversary card I made using one of Sharon's mats (RM00148). I didn't cut the inner fancy design since I shrank it to fit a card (around 4 1/2 inches). It cut wonderful! Love it Sharon, Thanks! I have to checkout the others. ;) The Digital stamp is a freebie from Karen's Doodles Blog colored with copics. The flowers are paper from Wild Orchid Crafts, I colored them with copics. Stampin up ribbon, nestie tag, and pearls. Thanks for looking!

Stamp is a freebie I got online (sorry no name listed with my file), colored with copics, paper flowers and clear crystals on silver wire from Wild Orchid Crafts, Pearl background paper is from The Paper Temptress, wedding ribbon, and pearls. Ginger, these are absolutely beautiful.
I love how you used my mat. I know several have opted to not cut the inside. I was going to remove it, but decided to just leave it, so its actually more usable.
You can break and remove the center so its solid, or you can cut it as is, and use the extra cut out as another mat for some thing else.
This is what so wonderful about our cutters.

Ginger, do you know the maker of that white paper. I used that same paper in a cream color (Satin bisque I think) for my daughters wedding.
I had got a pack of 20 pages for 2.00 at big lots, And I needed like 2 more, and couldnt find them any where. Cant remember the name of the line, I will have to check my blog i know its there.
But see the paper here for the first tim. So wondering what line that is so I can check it out.

Wow, I haven't been around much the last few days-and today is my only day off this week too--but Caz, Ginger, Marie--and if I missed someone I apologize--all of your cards are awesome! I can't wait to get working on one, in the process of taking apart my craft room to get laminate flooring--so won't be able to do one until after the floor gets laid. But I"m hoping to combine with my card candy swap--I just need work to slow down a bit! Terrible when work conflicts with crafting time!

Chris was telling me a few weeks back that her images can be used as stamps in PSE and colored. I want to try it some time but just haven't taken the time. Is it EASY? I love adding a lot of little details to things but it has to be EASY details. *LOL* Is it just a matter of using the paint bucket tool to fill?
Your card is very cute!! Great masculine card!

Sandy McCauley did an blog post for Sharon on how to make a coloring book image, same as making a stamp from a paper piecing. watch the video on the blog.
Here is the link...

you can take any jpeg into PSE. From there you apply the colors and textures. Layers work best then flatten.

Thanks for the link, Ginger. I have learned so much about my PSE in the last six months. I will check out this link. I have done some things that have amazed me with photos and embellies in PSE. I am not usually a digi scrapper but there are a few things I want to do that will be best in digi so I can print them a number of times. In reading more of the posts, looks like I won't be able to use that for this challenge, but still want to learn so will check out that video now. Thanks, again!

Welcome ladies!
Ok I found Caz's post. #16 http://www.visualdesignsbychris.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2399&page=2
Says this...
I use digital cutter files all the time in digital scrapbooking. I can drag and drop the AI file straight into PhotoShop CS3 and if the Designer has been kind, like Chris, all the bits to the file are in separate spots and very easy to fill with a colour. I then either "lasso" them or use the "magic wand" to select them and drag them to my layout. From there, I can add styles, textures, and other effects to the pieces as I wish.
If the file is saved in layers on top of each other, I have to open the KNK file in the software, turn on Fill, and then pull apart all the layers to separate them. I them select all parts and export the image, saving it in 300 dpi to use in Photoshop. Opening that bitmap in PS then requires you to make it a layer, then to use the magic wand, select all the white background and delete it. Then you can use the pieces as before. If you turn on Fill in KNK then it is easier to use the coloured pieces (remove the background and then select them). You can always recolour the pieces as you require. If you save the bitmap without Fill, you will just have outlines which, when deleting the background in PS can sometimes be removed.
Thanks Caz!:D

Textures in PSE or another program?

06-08-2011, 01:24 PM
Either AI or Paint.net, Paint.net is just like Photo shop from what Im told.
I did a little bit of a search on that, and I think they are called brushes and I have to download those and then I can just select and drop those or some thing.
I havent checked much in to in the past two day, I have a really bad cold, with sore throat and ears and a fever, And woke up to the AC blowing up. AC guy came and said it cant be fixed. So its 93 in my house with fans in every room, just miserable I tell you. I will have to find some window units to use for a while.
On a good note, I got to watch my grandson for an hour today for the first time. And yes, im sick, so is he, I got it from him on my monthly visit Saturday. His mom took the day off to take him to the doctors and go on job interview.

Lovely coloring Pam--great cards! I still plan to do this--cutting some anniversary cards now--going to use ribbon sewing on them. Anniversaries are this week, and have to send them out. It's been crazy--I now have some lovely new flooring in 3 rooms, including the crafty room--however not all the stuff is back in the rooms! Why does it take 5x as long to sort through and put stuff back as it did to pull it out? Of course I'm going through things and trying to get rid of stuff that I don't use--I have tons of fabric scraps that I'm going to see if my church's sewing guild can use. Someone else suggested I keep it and just stick it on my cards!

Very cute card Sandra! I had carpet in the 3 rooms we did flooring in--the downstairs is now completely tile or laminate wood, the upstairs only has carpet in 2 bedrooms, hallway, stairs and loft. I got called in to work today--had planned to have the day off and work some more at getting things back in place--amazes me how hard it is to get everything back in the rooms after you've pulled it all out!

The background paper is from K & Company. I added a brown ribbon and some pink pearls. I made the ovals with my CM Oval Templates (I haven't pulled those out in a while :) ). The stamp is from Inkadinkado. I used my Marvy markers to color on the stamp itself with several different colors and then stamped onto my paper. I also used my Tim Holtz distressing tool on both ovals and then inked the edges.
This was a fun challenge. I need to pull out my stamps more often.

Thanks Girls, and your welcome, I have enjoyed the challenges I have posted.
I wont be able to do the other challenges because I cant use my files, And I dont use any one elses files, so that leaves me out.
And I think you all missed when I asked for your address. I meant your "Mailing" address. I have a prize to "MAIL" to each of the winners.
